What exactly is Common Sense?
It is that quality posessed by most of us regardless of education, race, religion or culture.
It is that which guides most mothers to buy food for the children first before buying a new hand bag. It is that which cause these women to buy those brands which give them the best quality for the lowest price.
Managers call this prioritizing and cost benefit analysis. But many of these mothers have never been to business school, it's simply common sense.
It is common sense which tells us that you don't buy blimps to fight crime if the police are under equipped.
It is common sense that tell us that you don't build a first world nation by simply building tall buildings.
And it is common sense that you can't uproot communities without consulting the residents there.

So what will a common sense party do?
The first thing is Prioritize our spending just as you would in your household.
Our approach would be
  1. Maintain that which we have.
  2. Buy/Build that which we need depending on which is cheaper.
  3. Get rid of that which are drains on the public purse IF it's not needed.

just as we have basic necessities of food, clothing and shelter, as a government we have to provide basic services to our people which are

  1. Security
  2. Medical
  3. Education & Training
  4. Roads and other infrastructure
  5. Public Utilities
  6. Mass transit systems
  7. Social Welfare for the most vulnerable

Just as in our home we won't satisfy our food needs by eating in expensive restaurants while unable to afford the rent, similiarly we can't buy expensive and ineffective blimps while having dilapidated police stations with discrepit vehicles.

Another Key component of the common sense approach is CONSULTATION. We have to get away from the sheep-shepherd syndrome or looking at the government as having all the answers.

Via the People's Parliament, the citizenry will be given the opportunity to comment on and even influence government policy.
